About Us

Two Knotted Mares is more than just a catchy name—it’s a reflection of who we are and what we love.

Two stands for the two of us—Kirsten and Brittini—lifelong friends and cousins with a shared passion for horses and craftsmanship.

Knotted represents the hand-tied detail and care that goes into every breast collar we make.

And Mares? Well, we’re both mare lovers through and through. They’re tough, smart, and full of heart—just like us.

Every piece we create is rooted in that same spirit: strong, bold, and made with intention.

Kirsten Hood

I’m the heart (and hands) behind Two Knotted Mares—a small business built from a lifelong love of horses and the desire for cool tack.

I’ve had horses in my life for as long as I can remember. They’re not just animals to me—they’re part of who I am. While I work full time in the IT world, horses have always been my escape, my passion, and now, the inspiration for this business. What started as a way to make custom tack for my own horses turned into a growing brand that lets me connect with riders all across the country.

I’m also a proud mom to one amazing little girl, McKenzie, who keeps life busy, beautiful, and full of fun. Between raising her, running a horse farm, and managing my full-time job, Two Knotted Mares became my creative outlet—and my way of bringing something a little different to the barrel racing community.

Brittini Dees

Hi, I’m Brittini Dees! Horses have always been a huge part of my life — I’ve been riding since I could walk and have been barrel racing for over 25 years. I’m also a proud stay-at-home mom to my sweet boy, Wesley.

When my cousin, more like sister, Kirsten began dreaming up a custom tack line, I was right there cheering her on and encouraging her to take the leap. Once she got it going, she let me tag along — and I’m so thankful she did! This little business gives me a way to support my horse hobby and be a part of something creative and meaningful.

We’re passionate about making tack that stands out in the arena and reflects the heart of the riders who use it!
